1. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT:

Nayagarh Autonomous College was established in the year 1961.The scope of the teaching was initially limited to P.U Science and humanities Classes. Degree Classes in science started from the year 1963.Mr.A.V.P Ranga Rao was the first HOD of the Department. He initiated various steps to bring the shape of the Chemistry department to its present status. Honours course in Chemistry was opened in the year 1973.

The department started imparting teaching in Honours in the year 1973 with 16 seats which was expanded to 32in the year 1989 and then expanded to 64 in the year 2006. From 2012 onwards the intake capacity of Chemistry Honours has been increased to 80.
