POLITICAL SCIENCE

  1. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT:

Nayagarh Autonomous College, Nayagarh is one of the premiere Institution of the state Odisha. This college was established in a natural environment  in the year 1961. Political Science was introduced at intermediate level with opening of the institution. Political Science General was opened in 1962 and in the year 1966 Hon’s classes were opened.

This subject has attracted good students from nearby areas. Excellent faculty members were the main attraction of this department. The then faculty members Sri Devdas Chhotray, Sri Haraprasad Dash has joined Indian Civil Service. Sri Devdash Chhotray , Prof. Pandav Nayak who had left their foot print in this department served as Vice Chancellors of Ravenshaw University and Utkal University. Foemer Alumni and Faculty Prof. Gita Dash is the Present Vice Chancellor of Berhampur University. Dr. Saroj Kumar Patnaik , faculty member served as Controller of Examinations at Berhampur University.  In toto three faculty members has subsequently became Vice-Chancellor. To add another glory of this department that Sri Umakant Mishra , a first batch student of this department has qualified Indian Information Service.

Despite the craze for technical subjects in higher study, Political Science has not lost its glory. It attracts better students of the college.
