1. BRIEF HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT:-

Establishment of the Dept. -1980, date of opening of Hons. 1993          

The Department of Sociology was stated by the educationists, of the locality as members of Governing body. Since the inception of the institution, consequently the subject Sociology has got recognition from Govt of Orissa and affiliation from Utkaluniversity in the year 1980. Dr.Sanjaya Ketan Jena as its founding teacher. He become the first head of the department of Sociology in 1983 to 1990. In 1991 the +3 degree course opens with govt recognition. In 1993 the sociology hons open .Dr Sanjaya Ketan Jena was transferred to Jasipur Collage. Then the G.B selected to Smt. Priyamba Das to appointment as a lecturer in the collage dt-24.10.1990. Then Dr. B.M Otta transfer Nayagarh Autonomous  collage, Nayagarh, he was continue 1993 to 1999, in 1999 B.M Hota was transfer to Masaghai collage .Smt Rinku Khadenga was appointment by governing body on 2 February 1998. Then Dr Khali Sahoo transferred from Ranpur collage  to Nayagarh Autonomous collage on Dt:-7/7/1999, he was continue on dt-23/4/2013. Then  Smt. Priyambadas was  incharge i/c the department from 23.04.2013 to 15.11.2015. After Khali Sahoo retirement SMT. P.R. Mishra  transferred to Nayagarh Autonomous Collage,Nayagarh on 16/11/2015 as the head of the department Socilogy.The sociology department has 32 sanctioned student strength honours and elective also

  32 student’s strength.
