NCC
In the post independence period, National Cadet Corps came into existence on July, 1948 by enactment of NCC Act in Parliament. Girls Division was formed in 1949 and NCC was given an inter-service outlook with addition of Air Wing in 1950 followed by creation of Naval Wing in 1952. The objective behind all these exercise was to create an organisation to mould the youth of the country to become better citizens of tomorrow.
Aims of NCC
- To develop character, comradeship, discipline, secular outlook, sprit of adventure and the ideals of services among the youth of the country.
- To create human resources of organised, trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in the walks of life and always available for the service of the nation.
- To provide suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up career in the armed forces.

HISTORY OF NCC IN NAYAGRH COLLEGE
With the establishment of Nayagarh College, Nayagarh was on 9th July 1961, there was a long felt need for some organisational activity for the youth of the College. Government of India made NCC compulsory in the Country in 1963 in all universities and colleges. That gave birth to creation of N.C.C. Boys Wing in the college in 1963. Subsequently, the Girls Wing was added in 1988.

INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING
The institutional training is undertaken on every Sunday in the college.
The NCC
The cadets will be acquainted with the NCC, Organisation of NCC &
NCC song.
NationBuilding
the Cadets will be taught the concept of state national interest objective Unity in diversity and cultural heritage of India .
DRILL
The aim of drill is to inculcate discipline, improve bearing , smartness in appearance, turn out, develop self confidence and the qualities of team spirit and obedience in the cadets
WEAPON TRAINING
The college has its own Firing range, where 08 cadets at a time can practise firing from a distance of 30 yards. The cadets are trained about rifle and firing.
HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT
It develops leadership qualities in cadets.
Map reading
The cadets have elementary knowledge about Map reading.
Field CRAFT, battle Craft & Field engineering
the cadets are taught about judging distance field signals fire control order section battle drill etc
Communication
Types of communication media used, current and future trends are included in the syllabus.
SOCIAL SERVICE
The Cadets of the college undertake social service activities to be conscious and sensitive to the needs and problems of the country. The cadets actively participate in AIDS Rally, Pulse-Polio Rally, Plantation Programme, Environmental Awareness etc. They also extend their service as and when required by the District Administration and local NGOs. Every year, more than 20 selected boys’ cadets volunteer their services in Car Festival at Puri. Both boys and girls cadets also participate in the local Car Festival at Nayagarh.
They also organise Blood Donation Camp as a sign of social commitment. They also participate in activities like road safety, traffic awareness, vigilance awareness, legal aid etc in association with the local NGOs and the District Administration.
NCC units of the college also takes up activities in adopted villages.
ACTIVITIES DURING LAST THREE YEARS
2016-2017
The cadets of NCC Girls’ wing participated in TSC (ThalSainik Camp), New Delhi in 2016 and The Girls’ cadets also participated in Darjleeingat in addition to attending Annual training camps.The SD cadets have attended
The Cadets of NCC Girls’ wing received prize for discipline and Boys wing received prize for bestdrill in Independence Day and Republic Day 2016& 2017 respectively at District Headquarter Parade at Nayagarh.The NCC Units of the college organised a NCC DAY on First last Sunday ofNovember to create awareness among the public and guardians regarding NCC and for motivation of the youth to choose a career in Defence Services.
2017-18
The cadets of NCC Boys’ wing participated in National Integration Camp at besides regular Annual training camps.attended RDC, New Delhi in 2017..
The Cadets of NCC Girls’ wing participated in NIC, Wrangal -2017and also participated in Trekking Camp at Sikkim. SUO Suchishree Dash and CdtDeepaBehera has attended Spl NIC at Karavati,Kerala in 2017.The NCC Units of the college organised a NCC DAY on last Sunday ofNovember to create awareness among the public and guardians regarding NCC and for motivation of the youth to choose a career in Defence Services.
2018-19
The cadets of NCC Boys’ wing participated regular Annual training camps..The Cadets of NCC Girls’ wing also attended Trekking Camp at Sikkim. CdtSujataDaleihas attented TSC NewDelhi 2018. And cadet SunitaMahapatra has attended Para basic Course at Agra.The Cadets of NCC Boys’ wing received prize for best drill in Independence Day 2018 and Republic Day-2019 at District Headquarter Parade at Nayagarh.

WHAT NCC WILL GIVE ?
- A prefix (rank) to your name from the day one till you die .You will be addressed as ex –cadet
- An uniform to be proud and you are different from your friend.
- They see mud and sweat in their face after whole day parade.
- The naval Cadets wash their uniforms and belts for hours .
- They explain how get ready from bath to dressing up within 15 mins.
- A10 days camp which is not for certificates but for the bonding of friends for lifetime and develop leadership qualities among students.
- NCC not only moulds a person physically but also mentally and spiritually imbibes four cardinals.
- Be punctual
- Obey with a smile
- Tell no lies and make no excuses
- Work hard without fuss
- One more lesson which it teaches is how to stand ,sit ,walk and talk shake hands in a polished manner. Being the senior of the troop they find fault with juniors uniform which improve observing quality.
- The NCC senior guide the juniors more than a brother/ sister.
- It gives opportunity to be a member of the tea party with the president of India and president of other countries.
